BATMAN FROM THE 30'S TO THE 70'S edited by E. Nelson Bridwell. Hardback with Dust Jacket, Book is As New, Dust Jacket has minor edge wear but the coating used on the paper cover has bubbled in vertical lines on the front and on the back, on the inside flap the $10 price has been lined through and $5.95 is written. The $7.95 pre-publication special price tag has NOT been clipped, as it is on many copies. Published 1971, February 1972, Second Printing, Crown Books, size 7.75 x 10.75 inches, 388 pages, O/P. Cover art by Carmine Infantino & Murphy Anderson and Introduction by E. Nelson Bridwell. This memorable volume collects stories from Detective and Batman comics, as the title says, from the thirties to the seventies. The bulk of the book is crisp black & white reproduced artwork with 36 pages in color. Naturally, the books begins in 1939 with Batman's first appearance in Detective #27 (in color) and ends in 1970 with Batman #227. In between, you get everything from Robin's first appearance to the silly Bat-Mite, Bat Girl, Batwoman phase to the gorgeous renderings of Neal Adams. The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, and other villains appear. Plus, the book wouldn't be complete without Superman showing up. If it's not already, this volume should be on the shelf of every DC fan.
