CATASTROPHE! THE END OF THE CINEMA? by David Annan. Hardback (As New- with small red dot remainder mark on the bottom edge) with Dust Jacket (VG: inside front cover flap price clipped), 1975, First Printing, Bounty Books, ISBN: 0-517-529198, size 7 1/8 x 10 1/4 inches, 112 pages plus endpapers, O/P. While the title and cover suggests "disaster films," the content is much more than that. It is a look through the history of cinema from the early 1900s to 1974 at things that can go wrong. That encompasses natural disasters as in "Earthquake" or "San Francisco" to manmade disasters as in "The Towering Inferno," "The Poseidon Adventure," or "The Hindenburg" to War films (both WWII and alien invasions) to Godzilla and his pals. There's something in here to worry everyone! I'm still trying to figure out how "Emmanuelle" and Linda Lovelace in "Deep Throat" fit into the scheme of things, but they are in here, too. Loaded with B&W photos and 8 pages of color movie posters and production artwork. Due to nudity, you must be 18 years of age or older to order this book. See covers  $16

Neal Adams draws a "How It All Began" strip, excerpts from Michael Palin's diary, some Terry Gilliam animation drawings, and much more Pythonesque humour. Also, a photo of Keith Moon, to whom the book is dedicated. This is the original, out of print, oversized, first printing of the book, which was later reduced in size and reprinted as just the film script. WHAT THE CENSOR SAW by John Trevelyan. Hardback (As New) with Dust Jacket (VG: $ sticker over printed UK £ price on inside flap, shiny coating missing in areas on the bottom edge of the back jacket - see scan), published 1973, June 1977, Second Printing, Michael Joseph Ltd, ISBN: 0-7181-1123-0, size 5.75 x 8.75 inches, 276 pages and endpapers, UK Import - printed in Great Britain, O/P. An additional 20 pages of B&W photos are bound into the center of the book. John Trevelyan relates his experiences as chairman of the British Cinema Advisory Sub-Committee from 1952 to 1971. Many of the groundbreaking films of the fifties and sixties are covered. Trevelyan's retirement preceded the releases of the powerhouse trio of "The Devils," "A Clockwork Orange" and "Straw Dogs," which forever changed the way censorship would be handled in UK cinema, but they are all discussed.
